Dr John J Hambley (m)

B.Med Sci. BM BS MRCGP

Dr Hambley joined Somercotes in 1990. He has a wide range of medical interests and provides the surgeries minor surgery service. He is very experienced in joint injections and is able to treat a wide range of problems.

Dr Antony Dowd (m)

MB ChB MRCP MRCGP

Dr Dowd qualified as a doctor in 1987 and spent 10 years working as a hospital doctor in general medicine and nephrology before becoming a GP and joining the practice in 1999 as a 3/4 time GP.
He has a wide range of interests and can carry out various joint injections. He has a particular interest in education and is a GP tutor for medical students as well as being a GP trainer with the Derby vocational training scheme.

Dr Edward C Pooley (m)

MBChB  DPhil  MBioMedSci  MRCGP

Dr Pooley joined the practice in 2011. Although he has a wide range of medical interests, he has specific interests relating to the relationship between psychology and health, medical education, emergency medicine, and sports and musculoskeletal medicine. He works as a speciality doctor in both Emergency Medicine and in Rehabilitation Medicine, and he provides the surgery's acupuncture service. Dr Pooley works full time at the practice.

Dr Elise G MacLachlan (f)

MB BChir BA MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH

Dr MacLachlan joined the surgery in 2013. She is interested in the management of diabetes, gynaecology and contraception - she is responsible for fitting contraceptive coils in the practice. She is also a GP trainer for the Derby training scheme.

Dr Kaysia N Heafield (f)

BMBS BMedSci DGM DRCOG MRCGP

Dr. Heafield joined the practice in 2013, having worked and trained in the local area for the past 8 years. She is interested in all areas of medicine, particularly gynaecology, sexual health, diabetes and healthcare of the elderly. In addition to working part time at the practice she is also a member of the Derby Mountain Rescue Team

Dr Nicola Hambley (f)

 B.Med. Sci. BM BS MRCGP DCH

Dr Nicky Hambley has worked part time in the practice since 1990, having completed her GP training in Nottingham. She is interested in all areas of medicine, particularly paediatrics, gynaecology, and adolescent health. She enjoys teaching, and for many years she has been a GP tutor for medical students.She is a trustee for the local charity Valley CIDS, which provides the BLEND youth centre in Ripley.
